Middlesex to Wit


The Information of Ruth Pearce< no role > of Silver Street
Golden Square Widow taken before me this 26th. day
of March 1781

Who being upon Oath says that she Knows a person now
present who calls himself Samuel Austin< no role > and that she washes his
Linen for him-That on Friday morning last between 9 and 10 o Clock
the said Samuel Austin< no role > came up to this Informants Room in
Silver Street aforesaid (at which time her Silver Watch was hanging
near the Fire Place) and sat down by the firesideThat he
Continued there about a Quarter of an hour and then went away
soon after which she found the said Watch was stolen [..]
Says that us other person was in the Room from the time she was
her Watch, till she missed it but the said Samuel Austin< no role > , except
a Boy whom she is very sure was not near enough to the
place where the Watch hung to have taken it; from which she
is very sure that the said Samuel Austin< no role > is the person that
feloniously Stole her said Watch
