Inn Yard that just before he went to bed he went
into the Cellar and looked into a Cupboard where he
had left about four pounds worth of half pence
which he then saw as he had left them upon
which he locked the said Cupboard & took the Key
away with him And this Informant further saith
that about four o Clock the Next Morning he was
called by the other Informant Wm Gibbs< no role > and told
him that the Outer Gates of the Inn had been broke
Open but saying he did not Miss any thing out of
the Yard this Informant lay till Six o Clock
when getting up and examining further he found
that [..] a Padlock on the outer Gates had been broke
to Pieces that two Boards had been found out of
the Cellar Window belonging to then House that
the Cupboard in the said Cellar had also been
broke Open and a Quantity of half pence to the
amount of about four pounds which he had left
therein when he went to bed were taken & Carried
away And this Informant further saith that having
some reason to Suspect the person now present
who calls himself John Charles< no role > together with
another person not yet taken who calls himself
Thomas Higginbotham< no role > otherwise Shetton< no role > were
Concerned in the Robbery and seeing John Charles
Passing by his Door about three o'Clock on the
Thursday afternoon he called to him he look hold
of the said Charles by his Arm & insisted upon his
going into the House with him to Drink which he
way reluctantly did and upon this Informants
taxing Sum with the Robbery he Positively denyed
it upon which this Informant gave Charge of him
to the other Informant Robert Crown< no role > in Order to his
being taken before a Magistrate and this Informt
further saith that after the said John Charles had
been examined by a Magistrate touching the said
Robbery he the said John Charles upon coming out
told this Informant. that he would shew this Informt.
