John Beddington< no role > for Felony

George Clements< no role > of the parish of Saint James Clerkenwell in the
County of Middlesex Carpenter Maketh Oath and Saith that he was bound
in Recognizance in the penal Sum of Forty pounds before Joseph Girdler< no role >
Esquire one of his Majesty's Justices of the peace for the said County of Middlesex
upon Condition that he this Deponent should Appear at the last Session held
for the County of Middlesex and prosecute the Law with effect against John
Beddington for Feloniously taking and carrying away Two Ducks his property
and this Deponent saith that he did on the Sixth day of December last being the
first day of the Sessions attend at Hicks Hall in Saint John Street and did there
prefer a Bill of Indictment and give Evidence thereon against the said John
Beddington before he Grand Jury And this Deponent saith that he did go to the
Sessions House in the old Bailey on the Wednesday Morning following being the
fist day of the Sessions there And this Deponent did remain there untill Seven of
the Clock in the Evening in Order o give his Evidence against the said John
Beddington when this Deponent went to a publick House to get a little refreshment
he being very much fatigued having waited there the whole Day without having
Eat anything where this Deponent remained about half an Hour when he returned
again to the said Sessions House And this Deponent saith that he was the same
Evening informed by one Mr. Brown who was a Witness against the said
prisoner that in this Deponents Absence his Name was called and this
Deponent not Answering thereto the said prisoner was Tried and Convicted and
this Deponent hath been also since informed that this Doponents Recognizance
was ordered by the Court to be Estreated for Neglecting to Attend at the said
Sessions House at the time the said prisoner was Tried And this Deponent
saith that he did not Neglect to Attend and give his Evidence against the said
John Beddington through any favour or Affection or for any Reward on the hope
or promise thereof therefore this Deponent humbly prays that this Honorable
Court will be Pleased to Order his said Recognizance to be discharged.
