Edward Carty of Church Lane in the Parish of Saint
Mary Islington< no role > in the County of Middlesex Watchman and
Thomas Gurney< no role > of Holloway in the same Parish and County
Watchman severally make Oath and say that on or about the
Twenty fourth day of May last these Deponents were bound in
Recognizance in the penal Sum of Forty pounds each Upon Condition
that these Deponents should give Evidence upon a Bill of Indictment
to be preferred by William Langley< no role > against the said Christopher Bold< no role >
and George Osborn< no role > in July Session last for Feloniously stealing a
pair of shoes a pair of Metal Buckles and a Canvas Bag
containing therein Fourteen Shilllings in Silver the property of the
said William Langley< no role > and these Deponents say that both they and
the prosecutor attended on Tuesday the fifth day of July following
at Hicks Hall in Saint John Street where the said prosecutor preferred
a Bill of Indictment against the said Christoper Bold< no role > and George
Osborn< no role > for the said Felony and these Deponents gave their Evidence
before the Grand Jury thereon and these Deponents say that on the
next Days being Wednesday and Thursday they went to the Sessions
House in the Old Bailey but the prisoners Names not being on the
List these Deponents went Home again each Day and these Deponents
further say that on the Friday Morning following they again
attended at the said Sessions House and the prisoners Names being
on the List this Deponent Thomas Gurney< no role > went to Islington to see
after the prosecutor (who had not attended on the said Wednesday or
Thursday) but could not find him but was informed by a person where
he Lodged that the said prosecutor was gone to attend at the said
Sessions House upon which this Deponent again went back to the
