of Gravel Lane aforesaid Labourer Husband of Elizabeth
Welch
< no role > Severally make oath and say and first this Deponent
William Merridy for himself Saith that a Lusty Person Dressed
in brown Cloaths came to the said Thomas Welchs< no role > House
in Gravel Lane aforesaid on Friday last about 11 o Clock
in the Evening where this Deponent is a Lodger and asked
if Mrs. Welch was within upon which this Deponents
wife called the said Mrs. Welch Down Stairs (to the sd
Person when he said to sd. Mrs. Welch he wanted to Speak
to her about very particular Business and insisted she
should go with him And this Deponent further Saith
that the said Mrs. Welch was very unwilling to go with
him and said she woud not go but he the said person
insisted of her going and did force her away without
permitting her to put on either hatt Cloak or Stays
and kept Continually Saying she should return in
2 or 3 minutes And this Deponent further Saith
that the said Mrs. Welch has not returned neither has
this Deponent seen her since the said Time therefore this
Deponent knowing the said Mrs. Welch to be a
very prudent woman he verily believes she is
detained against her will And this Deponent
