The Information of Jonathan Hurst< no role > and the
Right Honourable James Earl< no role > of Clanbrassil
taken before me this 16th. day of June 1773

Who being upon Oath say and first the said Jonathan Hurst for himself
says that on or about the 31st day of May last a person now present who calls
himself Robert Johnston< no role > published as true to this Informant a Bill of Exchange
now produced purporting to be the Bill of Exchange of Jams. Armstrong upon
Jams. Shiel Esqr. Merrion Square Dublin for sixty eight pounds ten Shillings
payable to Mr. Benjamin Johnston< no role > or Order forty one days after date and
dated Wicklow Apl. 28th. 1773 and purporting to be accepted James Shiel
and indorsed Ben. Johnston Robt. Johnston, that the next day this Informant
went with the said Robert Johnston< no role > to the Door of the Cocoa Tree Coffee house
where the said Robert Johnston< no role > said he was to meet the Earl of Clanbrassil
in order for him to undertake to pay the said Bill of Exchange when due, that
the said Robert Johnston< no role > went into the Cocoa Tree Coffee house but this
Informant did not, that about an hour afterwards the said Robert
Johnston
< no role > brought the said Bill of Exchange back to this Informants'
house it then being indorsed with the Words following Viz. " I promise to
discharge this Bill when due Clanbrassill " , that the said Robert
Johnston
< no role > then published to this Informant the said Bill of Exchange
with the said Indorsement on it as the true Indorsement of the Earl
of Clanbrassill, and the said James Earl< no role > of Clanbrassil for himself
says that the said Indorsement last mentioned is not the Indorsement
of this Informant but that the same is false forged and Counterfeit
and the said Jonathan Hurst further says that the does verily
