The Information of
Richard Dovey< no role >
taken
before me this 17th. day of August 1770
Who being upon Oath says that about a Week ago one Mr. Constable of the
Hermitage
a Shoemaker
applied to this Informant and desired him to buy
for him twenty Ounces of Sterling Silver and to allay it to the Value of
four Shillings and six pence P ounce and to have it flatted to a
Thickness of which the said Constable brought this Informant a
Measure being of the thickness of a Shillings says that from the Manner of the said Application he
suspects that the said Constable means to make use of the said Silver
so allayed & flattened for the purpose of coining counterfeit Shillings
or Silver Money
