Continued Thursday 28th. June 1770

to the Publick and be continued as such But so as the governors of the
said Hospital shall and may have and Enjoy the Front Line of their
Lands from North to South next and adjoining to the said intended Street
from Bride Lane to the River Thames without any Obstruction or
Intervention whatsover

Third


That so much of the Ancient Channel distinguished by the Name of
Bridewell Dock Extending from the River Thames Towards the North
as contains 8786 Feet (the Extent Situation and Dimensions whereof are
more particularly Specified and Delineated in the Ground Plot hereunto
annexed marked with the Letters (P. O. V. Y. Z .) together with all the
Ground or Soil and the Wharfs Cranes and Buildings thereon on the West
side of the said Dock from the North End thereof to the River Thames shall
be considered as and allowed to be the Sole and Exclusive Right & Property
of the said governors and as such be held and Enjoyed by them and their
Successors for Ever

Fourth


That the said Bridge Committee shall at their Expence Arch over
and fill up the Remaining part of the said Ancient Dock and so much of
the New Cut called Fleet Channel as now his open and uncovered from
the North End thereof to the River Thames and make a Sewer therein
in the same manner as that already done and also make and Continue
such Arch and Sewer from the End of the said Dock towards the South so
for as the Intended Embankment is designed to Extend

Fifth


That the other part of the said New Cut Stretching along and lying on the
East side of Bridewell Dock aforesaid and which contains 5294 Feet
(the Extent Dimensions and Situation whereof are more particularly
Specified and delineated in the said Ground Plot marked with the Letters
(Q. W. & X) shall be Considered as and allowed to be the Sole and Exclusive
Right and Property of the City of London And in Order to Settle and Ascertion
the Quantity and Value of the Buildings and Grounds which for the purposes
of making the said Intended Street, are proposed to be reciprocally given up We directed
the Surveyors on both sides to Measure and Estimate the same and by whose
Report No. 1.2.3 (a Copy of which is hereunto annexed) It appears that
the Hospital will upon the Balance of such Exchange be Intitled to receive the
Sum of £6821-12-6 from the Bridge Committee-To this Balance we
think it will be just to add the Expence of Building a New Front Wall to the
End of the North Wing of the Hospital intended to be Standing and of
Finishing the same so as to answer the Appartments that will remain and
also of Building a New Fence Wall with Iron Rails thereon between the two
Wings of the Hospital next the Intended Street and of making a Gateway thereon
with Stairs down into the Court of the said Hospital and of the several Alterations
necessary in the Chaplains House in Consequence of taking away his Yard
all which Expences are Estimated by the said Surveyors in their said Report
(No. 4) at the Sum of £420 which will make the Balance so to be paid
to the said governors the Sum of £7241-12-6 But in Regard the Representation
on Representaives of the late Mr Christopher Masterman< no role > are or is possess [..]
