Upon Reading a Report of the Committee of this Hospital under the
Hands of William Kinleside< no role > Esquire treasurer Mr. Jonathan Granger< no role > Mr.
John Hall< no role > Charles Brown< no role > Esquire and Mr. Charles Hoyle< no role > in the Words
and Figures following This Committee having taken into Consideration
the long diligent and faithful Services of Mrs. Mary Lapthorne the Matron
of this Hospital for upwards of Twenty Five Years past are of Opinion
that a Gratuity of Twenty Pounds will be reasonable and proper to be
given her for her past Services All which is submitted to the Judgment
of the Court and Ordered to be reported at the next Court- This Court
having weighed and duly considered the said Report Doth Confirm the
same and Order that the Clerk do pay the said Mrs. Lapthorn Twenty
Pounds to be allowed him in his next Account.

Beadles & Porters Man
Yearly Gratuity of £10
Ordered them in hire of £4

in the Words and Figures following To the Right Worshipful the
President the Worshipful the treasurer and the governors of Bridewell
Hospital That Humble Petition of Your Worships four Beadles and
Porters ManSheweth. That Your Petitioners Salaries Gratuity
Fees Watch Etc amounts to the following Sums P Ann Vizt. First
Beadle Twenty Nine Pounds Eighteen ShillingsSecond Beadle
Twenty Nine Pounds Eighteen Shillings Third Beadle Twenty
Pounds thirteen Shillings Fourth Beadle Twenty One Pounds
Seven Shillings - Porters Man Twenty two Pounds three Shillings
That Your Petitioners have each of them a Blue Coat two Shirts
and two Chaldron of Coals every Year - That it is well known to your
Worships that Provisions as well as every other Necessary of Life is
at present and has been a long time at a very high Rate which
renders Your Petitioners incapable of providing for themselves and
Families Your Petitioners therefore most humbly pray your Worships
that you will pleased to make such Addition to their Salaries as
to your Worships shall seem meetAnd Your Petitioners Etc
It is the Opinion of this Committee that considering the smallness
of the said Beadles & Porters Man's Sallary the Dearness of all Sorts
of Provisions That instead of the Gratuity of Four pounds usually
given them every Year that the further Sum of Six Pounds be
added thereto so as to make each of the Beadles and Porters Marts
Gratuity Ten Pounds All which is Nevertheless submitted to the
Judgement of the Court and Ordered to be reported at the next Court
This Court having weighed and duly considered the said Report Doth confirm
the same and Order that the Clerk do pay the said Beadles & Porters Man
the said Gratuity of Ten Pounds each to be allowed him in his next Account

Upon reading the Humble Petition of the three Basket Men of Bethlem
for their usual Gratuities of Forty Shillings a piece for the Year ending at
Midsumer last for their Salaries are but small It is Ordered that
the Clerk of these Hospitals do Give and pay unto them Forty Shillings
a piece to be allowed him in his next Account.
