Tarrant William< no role > an Artsmaster
Expelled


of his Apprentices has been Neglected and Totally Disregarded & in
Consequence of such his Ill Conduct diverse Irregularities have been
by them Committed and the said William Tarrant< no role > hath Totally neglected
his duty in Attending Divine Worship (Contrary to the Orders made for
the Order and good Government of these Hospitals) and hath Persisted
along time in such his Bad behaviour the frequently called before
the Committee and Adminished touching the Same It is the Opinion
of this Comittee who have heard and Examined the said William
Tarrant
< no role > (touching the several matters alledged against him) that the
Said William Tarrant< no role > is not a fit Person to Continue an Artsmaster of
this Hospital and Should be Expelled the House And Whereas it
Appears that James Smith< no role > Orrice weaver and Francis Poyntex< no role > Orrice
weaver Two other Artsmasters of this Hospital have very frequently
Absented themselves from Divine Service Contrary to the Order of Court
of the 13th. Novr. 1755 It is the Opinion of this Comittee that the said
James Smith< no role > and Frances Poynter< no role > should be called in the next General
Court and then and there be Publickly Reprinanded for such their
Default and Adminished never to Absent themselves from Church for
the future without sending a Reason in Writing signed by them to the
Clerks Office the next Morning on Pain of being Expelled this house
according to the said order of Court And Whereas frequent Disputes
Arise between the Masters & their Apprentices when Fires Unfortunately
happen And Assistance is required from the Boys to work the Engine
belonging to this Hospital the Master being werse to their Apprentices
going out on those Occasions By reason of these Absence next day in
Solliciting and receiving Gratuities for their Labour It is the
Opinion of this Committee that in Order to Prevent for the future and
marke it an necessary for any of the Boys to go out or such Occasions to
Collect money That two Guineas shall be paid by the Steward of this Hospital
and equally devided to and among such Boys who shall be Actually
present at such Fires and Assist in Working the Engine there and who
shall Immediately return to the Hospital with the Engine and not go
out again the next day without the leave of his Master It is Ordered
that the said Report be confirmed and it is further Ordered that the
Beadles do partake with the Boys of the two Guineas intended to be
given them when they go out with the Engine to Fires

holden he shod. Quit his Appartment
and what shod. be done with his
Boys.


Whereas the Covent has this day Expelled William Tarrant< no role > from
being an Artsmaster in this Hospital It is Ordered that it be
referred to the Committee of this House to Consider what time should
be given him to Quet his Appartment and also what can be done with
the apprentices who are bound to the said William Tarrant< no role > when he quit the same
