Upon reading a Report from the Comee of this house under the hands
of John Tayler< no role > Esqr . Trear Lawrence Parker< no role > Esqr . Mr Jno. Neale< no role > Mr
Depty. Waylett & Mr Christr. Bateman< no role > bearing date the 11th. day of February
instant in the words following vizt. In persuance of an Order of Court of the 10th.
day of January Last This Comee have taken into consideration the Petition
of John Wheeler< no role > Setting forth that he has been Surgeon of the sd hospitals
for about three yeares Last past during which time there have been many
more patients in the hospital of Bethlem than formerly used to be That he
has annually blooded about a thousand in, and out patients belonging to both
hospitals & cured near a hundred every year of Ulcers Fractures Mortifications
Etc and found Medicines plasters & Ligatures at his own Charge & given
constant dayly attendance at one or other of the hospitals for all which
he has only a Salary of thirty pounds & Annum for each hospital wth. out
any other advantage or perquisite whatsoever And praying Such further
allowance for his extraordinary Charge & attendance as this Court Shall think full
And also upon reading a Certificate under the hand of Dr Hale Physitian of
these hospitals dated ye 5th. day of February instant Setting forth that ye sd
Mr Wheeler hath given constant attendance & hath done many Chirugerall
operations & cured more patients in the hospital of Bethlem , on extraordinary
accidents if Mortifications Ulcers & other Sores than formerly has been done
This Comee are of Opinion that ye sd John Wheeler< no role > be allowed Twenty
pounds as a Gratuity for his extraordinary Charge & attendance to Xmas last &
from that time Twenty pounds P Annum as a Gratuity during the pleasure
of this Court all which nevertheless is Submitted to the Judgment of the Court
This Court doth Confirm the said Report And Order that the Clerke of these
hospitals do pay to ye sd Jno. Wheeler Twenty pounds as a Gratuity for the
extraordinary Charge and attendance to Xmas Last to be allowed him in
his next account

In persuance of an Order of Court of the 10th day of January Last past
This Comee have taken unto consideration the Peticon of Peter Pickering< no role >
Setting forth that he has been Porter near seven yeares Last past & Reced
but one halfe of ye Salary during the life of Mr Empson & being ordered more
business than formerly & haveing been at a Considerable expence and the
