of the whole matter the Comee were of Opinion that her time for new building
Should be enlarged for four yeares from that time She Covenanting to insure
and assign over the policys for the Benefitt if the said hospital which
Report being confirmed by the Court a Lease was accordingly Sealed and
delivered to the said Isabella Finch< no role > bearing date the said 13th. day of Aprill
1711. wherein there is a Covenant that She Shall pull down and rebuild ye
Said two houses as aforesaid within four years from the date of the said Lease
and She executed a Counter part there of and Soon after dyed haveing made
her will and oneClariss Executor who has proved the same &
taken upon him the Execution thereof And this Comee finding that the sd
houses are not rebuilt according to the said Covenant tho: the four years
are long Since Elapsed they Sent to Mr Clariss who attended this day &
being asked why he had not rebuilt the Said houses he alledged that he was
only Executor in Trust and had not yet received assetts Sufficient to pay
the Debts of hisSaidTestatrix but on the Contrary had disburst Eighty
pounds of his own money on account of the Said Trust and therefore could not at
present perform the said Covenant of his Testatrix nor could he tell in
what time he Should gett in assetts Sufficient to enable him so to do
Whereupon it is Ordered That it be Referred back to the Same
Comee to review the premisses and to consider the whole matter &
to Report their Opinion to this Court what is proper to be done
therein

Upon reading the humble Petition of Peter Pickering< no role > Porter Setting
forth that he has been Porter of this hospital for near Seven years last
past and reced but one halfe of the Salary during the life of Mr. Empson
That he has been ordered more business than formerly and has been at considerable
expence That the profitts of the place do not amount to one third of
what it hath done in his Predecessors time And praying Such further
encouragemt. as this Court Shall think fitt It is Ordered that the said
Petition be Referred to the consideration of the Comee who are desired to
report to this Court what they think proper to be done therein

Upon reading the humble Petition of John Wheeler< no role > Surgeon Setting forth that he
has been Surgeon of ye sd. hospitals for about three years last past during wch. time there
have been many more patients in the hospital of Bethlem than formerly used to be That he
has annually blooded abot a thousand in & out patients belonging to both hospitals & cared near
a hundred every year of Ulcers Fractures Mortifications Etc & found Medicines plasters
& Ligatures at his own charge & given constant daily attendance at one or other of ye
hospitals for all which he has only a Salary of thirty pounds p Annum for each hospll.
without any other advantage or pergul [..] ite whatsoever And Praying Such further allowance for his
extraordinary Charge & attendance as this Court Shall think fitt It is Ordered that
the Consideration of the said Petition be Referred to the Comee of this house who are
desired to Report to this Court what they think proper to be done therein
