Profitts of the place not amounting to one third of what it hath done in
his predecessors time And praying Such further encouragment as the
Court shall think meet And it appeared to this Comee that for about four
yeares past the Petr has furnished the Beadles with Candles to take
an account of the apprentices That were abroad from Ten o Clock at might
till the Watchman came at 11. o Clock at night and in consideration thereof
the Comee are of Opinion to give him Three pounds and that for the
future the Watchman attend at Ten o Clock and his Candle will Serve
for that purpose which nevertheless is Submitted to the Judgment of the
CourtWhereupon It was moved that the Petition should be
read again which was done accordingly and a Debate ariseing thereon it was
proposed that the Gratuity menconed in the Report should be encreased
& several Sumes were named vizt. £3, 5, 10, 15, & £20 and
the Questions being Severally putt which of those Sumes should be
given to the Petr. the Majority was for the Sume of fifteen pounds
and thereupon It is Ordered that ye Clerke do pay to ye said Petr. fifteen pounds
as a Gratuity And that the Watchman do for the future attend at
the Gate of this hospital at Ten o Clock at night
