An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King, at the Parish of Saint Margaret
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter , Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the Second day of September in the twenty fifth
Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of
Great Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas
Prickard
< no role > , Gentleman, Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on
View of the Body of George Pawphry then and there lying dead, upon
the Oath of

< no role > , and James Abbott< no role > good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said George Pawphry< no role > came to
h is Death, do upon their Oath say That the said George Pawphry on the thirty first
day of August in the Year aforesaid, at Nightbeing in the Area in the dwelling
House of Elizabeth Baker< no role > situate and being in Bridge Street in the Parish aforesaid
within the Liberty and County aforesaid, and then and there putting a Padlock
upon the Iron Barrs at the top of the said Area. It so happened that the said
George Pawphry< no role > then and them slipped and fell down upon the Back upright of a
certain Chair standing in the said Area which passed into the Fundament
of the said George Pawphry. by means whereof the said George Pawphry< no role > then and
there Accidentally Casually and by Misfortune, Received one Mortal Wound in
his Body of the Depth of twelve Inches, of which said mortal Wound he the said
George Pawphry< no role > from the said thirty first day of August in the year aforesaid,
untill the first Day of September in the same Year at the Parish aforesaid, within
the Liberty and County aforesaid, did languish and languishing did live, On which
said first day of September in the Year aforesaid, at the Parish and in the Liberty and
County aforesaid, he the said George Pawphry< no role > of the mortal Wound aforesaid did die.
And so the Jurors aforesaid, upon their Oath aforesaid, do say, that the said
George Pawphry in Manner and by the Means aforesaid, Accidentally Casually,
and by Misfortune came to his Death, and not otherwise

In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the
said William Bill< no role > Foreman of the said Jurors on the behalf of himself and the
Rest of his Fellows in their Presence, have to this Inquisition set their Hands, and
Seals, the Day, Year, and Place, above written
