Examination TextThe Examination of Ann Clarke Singlewoman taken on Oath this 29th Day of December Anno Dom 1725. Who on her Oath saith that she is about twenty Years of Age , and that she never was Married, That she was bound and Apprentice by Indre to one Mrs Sherman a Clearstarcher in Durham Yard the backside of the New Exchange in the Strand for four Years and Served her said mistress there the whole Term and continued with her about a fortnight afterwards and then left her , which is about five The years agoe And that she never lived a whole year together with any Person as he Yearly hired Servant , that she never kept house, She Father , on her Oath saith that she is with Child and that one Edward Warburton a Shagreen Watch Casemaker and they Carnal knowledge of her Body at the Bell Inn in Smithfield in a Room three pair of Stairs there and divers times since Saith that he the said Edward Warburton and no Man else is the true & only ffather of the Child or Children she now goeth with & is pregnant off.
