Examination TextMargaret Purcell aged about 47 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of William Pursell [sic] (who has been dead about 15 years) to whom she was married at the ffleet about 36 years ago, that he was a Shoemaker by trade and lived in and rented a house in Jackson's Alley in Russell Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of half a year at the yearly rent of 14 pounds besides taxes, but when quitted the same she this Examinant cannot tell, that he hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year or paid any parish taxes since, nor hath she this Examinant or been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, that she has one child living by her said husband to wit John aged about 33 years now at sea. Taken in the workhouse of 23rd Day of February 1750.
