Examination Text | Jane Hughes aged 38 years last August in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St. George Hanover Square within the liberty of Westminster upon her oath saith that she is the widow of Bartholomew Hughes (who died the 24th Day of August in the year 1746) to whom she was married after the manner of the Church of Rome in Warwick Street Chapel the sixth Day of November in the year 1739, that he was a Silver Caster by trade and was bound an apprentice by an indenture for seven years to Richard Tull a Silver Caster near New Street in St Martin's Lane in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields and there served all the time out which expired in the year 1737, that he never kept house rented tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant since, nor hath she this Examinant since her said husband's death, that she hath two children living by her said husband to wit William aged 13 years and Joseph aged nine years both now with this Examinant.
