Examination TextThe Examination of Mary Puller singlewoman destitute of lodging taken upon oath this ninth day of September 1755. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 38 years of age and never was married, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Kemp a Victualler in Bucks Street York Buildings in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of four years at the yearly wages of 3 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same 14 years ago, that she never kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, And this Examinant upon her voluntary oath further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that James Rainer a Jeweller lodging at a Watchmaker's in Pall Mall had carnal knowledge of her body the 25th day of March last in St. Mary le Bone Fields and several times afterwards at different places which or one of which times he the said James Rainer did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant of, and that he the said James Rainer is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the said ninth day of September 1755 before Benjamin Cox.
