Examination Text | Elizabeth Coates aged 18 years and upwards in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St. John at Wapping upon her oath saith that she never was married bound an apprentice nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that her father James Coates was a Taylor and never was bound an apprentice kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant, that her mother before her intermarriage was a yearly hired servant to Mr Buckles a Taylor in Salisbury Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of three years at the yearly wages of 4 pounds diet and lodging, and then intermarried and lived about 12 months longer. Sworn the 20th Day of March 1755 before Benjamin Cox. |
