Examination TextEsther Whitley aged 50 years lodging at Mrs Wilkin's in Moors Yard in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the wife of John Withey (who is now the workhouse of the Parish of St Martin in the Fields) to whom she was married at the ffleet 24 years ago, that he is a Hosier by trade and lived in and rented an house in New Round Court in the Parish aforesaid for the space of three years at the yearly rent of Twenty two pounds besides taxes, quitted the same about 30 years ago, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since, that she hath one child living by her said husband to wit Esther aged 14 years and upwards now with this Examinant. Sworn the 10th day of December 1756 before Benjamin Cox.
