Examination Text | Thomas Nicholls aged about 42 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed the Parish of St. Mary Callendar in the city of Winchester upon his oath saith that he was bound an apprentice by an indenture for seven years to Mr. Duppe a Staymaker in Porter Street in the Parish of St Anne Westminster and there served with him and his widow about three years and an half, and then was turned over to Mr Droste a Staymaker in Orange Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields and there and with him served the remainder of his time out which expired in the year 1735, that he never kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant since, that he was married to his late wife Ann at Stony Stratford in the County of Bucks. in the year 1742 by whom he hath six children living to wit Francis aged 14 years, Elizabeth aged 13 years, Mary aged nine years, Charlotte aged seven years, John aged three years and Thomas aged 13 months all now with this Examinant.
