Examination TextMary Burroughs aged 68 years and upwards lodging at Mr Turnbull's opposite Mercers Street in Long Acre in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of William Burroughs (who died 20 years ago) to whom she was married at the Fleet about 24 years ago, that her said husband never was bound an apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together before his intermarriage with this Examinant to this Examinant's knowledge, that he was born in the Hop Garden in the Parish aforesaid, where his Father [blank] Burroughs, who was a Farrier by trade, lived in and rented an house in the Hop Garden but how long he kept the same what rent he paid for the said house nor when he quitted the said house she this Examinant cannot tell, but when he quitted the said house she hath been informed that he went to the Kingdom of Ireland and further she this Examinant knoweth not of him, that she this Examinant hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the death of her said husband.
