Examination Text | Martha Gooding aged 34 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St Giles in the Fields in the County of Middlesex upon her oath saith that she is the wife of Edward Gooding (gone from her) to whom she was married at the Parish Church of St Bennet Paul's Wharf London the [?] Day of May which is in the year 1746, that her said husband lived in and rented an house known by the sign of the Black Boy and [?] in St Martin's Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of one year and an half at the yearly rent of 24 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same about 15 years ago, that her said husband hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since. Taken in the workhouse the first Day of July 1763. |
