Examination Text | Sarah Gearing aged 35 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St. George Hanover Square upon her oath saith that she is the widow of David Gearing (who died between seven and eight years ago) to whom she was married at St Bennett's Church by Drs. Commons near 23 years ago, that her said husband lived in and rented an house in Hemmings Row in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of eight years at the yearly rent of 18 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same about 18 years ago, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes afterwards nor hath she this Examinant nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the death of her said husband. Taken in the workhouse the fourth Day of January 1762. |
