Examination TextMartha Marshall aged about 60 years destitute of lodging upon her oath saith that she is the widow of Gabriel Marshall (who died about 28 years ago) to whom she was married at Stepney Church about 40 years ago, that her said husband was born in Leicestershire, but the particular part she cannot tell, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together to this Examinant's knowledge, that she this Examinant before her intermarriage and while single was a yearly hired servant to Mr James Martin an Upholsterer that corner of White Hart Yard in Drury Lane which is in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of three years and 10 months at the yearly wages of 4 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same about four months before her intermarriage with her said husband, that she never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes, nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since. Sworn the 19th Day of September 1761 before Theodore Sydenham.
