Examination TextThe Examination of Mary Wright singlewoman lodging at Mr Evans's, a Corn Chandler in that part of White Hart Yard which is in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken upon oath this ninth day of May 1761. This Examinant on her oath says that she is 28 years of age and never was married, that she was on the second instant delivered at the house of Mr Evans's aforesaid of a female bastard child (since christened Mary) yet living and likely to become chargeable to the said Parish, and that Samuel Oxley a Victualler at the Fox at Lambeth did beget on her body the said female bastard child, and that he the said Samuel Oxley is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year abovesaid before Thomas Balack, Thomas Kynaston.
