Examination Text | Thomas Houghton aged 27 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon his oath saith that he never was bound an apprentice, that he never was married, that he was a yearly hired servant to Mr Herbert a Victualler at the sign of the Star and Garter the corner of Charles Court in St Martin's Lane in the Parish aforesaid for the space of 14 months at the yearly wages of 40 shillings diet and lodging, quitted the same about 11 years ago, that he this Examinant never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid the Parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since.
