Examination Text | Thomas Coombes aged 68 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon his oath saith that he never was bound an apprentice, that while single and unmarried he was a yearly hired servant to Mr Hall a Victualler at the sign of the Cock and Bottle the corner of Cecil Street in the Strand in the Parish aforesaid for the space of three years at the yearly wages of 5 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same [blank] years ago, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since. Taken in the workhouse the 21st Day of January 1771. |
