Examination TextJames Steel aged about 58 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed as a vagrant from the Parish of Cirencester the County of Gloucester upon his oath saith that he was bound an apprentice by an indenture for seven years to Thomas Lush a Carpenter in Hungerford Market in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields and there served his said Master all the said term which expired about 30 years ago, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, that he was married to his present wife Hannah at the Fleet, London, about 24 years ago, now with this Examinant. Sworn the 14th Day of October 1772 before Thomas Kynaston.
