Examination TextThe Examination of Mary Young a Rogue and Vagabond taken on oath before me one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the said liberty this third Day of January in the year of our Lord 1784. Upon oath saith that she is 35 years of age, that she is the widow of John Young (who died 14 weeks ago) to whom she was married at Dublin in the Kingdom of Ireland the 17th Day of May in the year 1768, who was born abroad but where she cannot tell, that he her said husband never did any act whereby to gain a settlement to this Examinant's knowledge, that she this Examinant was before her intermarriage to her said husband being single and unmarried was a yearly hired servant to the widow Connelly in the Parish of Clarindine [sic] in the city of Dublin in the Kingdom of Irelandfor the space of two years all under one hiring at the yearly wages of 4 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same at the time she intermarried to her said husband by whom she hath four children to wit Robert aged 12 years, Elizabeth aged nine years and upwards, Sarah aged six years and John aged four years all now with this Examinant.
