Examination TextSarah Horton aged 35 years and upwards lodging at Mr Fagan's a Chandlers next the sign of the Angel in Hungerford Market in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the wife of Thomas Horton (gone from her) to whom she was married at the Parish Church of St Chad's in the town of Shrewsbury the first Day of January in the year 1769, that her husband is a Hatter by trade and lived in and rented an house in that part of Chandos Street which is in the Parish aforesaid for the space of two years at the yearly rent of 30 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same at Christmas 1780, that he hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since, that she hath three children by her said husband to wit James aged 12 years of age and upwards, Sarah aged five years and upwards and Kezia aged two years and upwards all now with her. Sworn the 31st of January 1782 before William Hyde.
