Examination TextThe Examination of Precilla Hanmore lodging with Mr Meredith a Dyer in Duke Street in the Park in the Borough of Southwark taken this first Day of March 1780. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is about 28 years of age, that she never was married, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Mills a Peruke maker in New Round Court in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of one year and an half all at one Time at the yearly wages of 9 pounds for some part of the said time and 7 pounds a year for the remainder of the said time diet and lodging, quitted the same about three months ago, that she hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she is now big with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that George Black Journeyman to Mr Mills aforesaid had carnal knowledge of her body some time in the month of July last on a bed in a back Garret at the house of Mr Mills aforesaid at which time he the said George Black did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant of, and that he the said George Black is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
