Examination TextSarah Barnes aged about 24 years & an half Saith her Husband John Barnes keepeth House in Red Lion Market White Cross Street in the parish of St. Giles without Cripplegate in Coun Middx. From whence they were passed, Saith that pays £8:6s. P. ann. Rent but never paid anything to the poor since he hath rented the said house, which is about two years & a Quarter, as she knoweth or ever heard, But about five or six months before her said Husband took the said House (when her Mother Sarah Dance Rented [the same]) the officers of the said Parish demanded three shillings & six pence for the poor which she paid for her said mother & in her name, But she never paid to the poor since her said Husband Rented the said House, tho' that Tax hath often been demanded of her.
