Examination TextMargaret Howard aged 65 years and upwards lodging at the sign of the Bulls Head in Hungerford Market in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of John Howard (who died in June 1772) to whom she was married at the Fleet about 42 years ago, that her said husband was a Pipe maker by trade and lived in and rented an house in Queens Court in Holborn in the Parish of St Giles in the Fields in the County of Middlesex for the space of four months at the yearly rent of 12 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same about 20 years ago, that her said husband never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any Parish of Parliamentary taxes after, that she this Examinant hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the death of her said husband. Sworn the eighth day of February 1777 before John Goodchild, John Hale.
