Examination TextThe Examination of Frances Curnin a Rogue and Vagabond apprehended by Benjamin Torkington one of the Beadles of St Martin in the Fields within the Liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex and brought before me one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the Liberty of Westminster aforesaid taken the [blank] Day of January in the year of our Lord 1777. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is about 29 years of age, that she is the wife of James Curnin (who was lately impressed into his Majesty's service) to whom she was married at the Parish Church of Keel in the County of Cavan in the Kingdom of Ireland about 11 years ago, that her said husband was born in the Kingdom of Ireland as she this Examinant hath been informed and verily believes, but the particular part she cannot tell, that her said husband never did any act to gain a settlement in England, that she this Examinant was born in the Parish of Keel in the County of Cavan in the Kingdom of Ireland as she this Examinant hath been informed and verily believes, that she never did any act to gain a settlement in England, that she hath two children by her said husband to wit Patrick aged about eight years and Catherine aged about four years both now with this Examinant.
