Examination TextEdward Claridge aged 30 years passed from the Parish of St. Mary le Bone in the County of Middlesex to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields in the same county upon his oath saith that he never was bound an apprentice, that he was a yearly hired servant in the capacity of an [?] to Mr Claridge, Stable Keeper at the sign of the Red Lyon near Conduit Court in Long Acre in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields and there served his said master for the space of one year and three months all under one hiring (he being a Widower and having no child living) at the yearly wages of 5 pounds diet and lodged in that part of the said Stable Yard as is in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and then intermarried with his late wife Sarah (deceased) which was in June 1775 at the Parish Church of St Anne Soho by whom he hath two children to wit Arabella aged one years six months and Ann aged 12 weeks now passed with this Examinant, that he this Examinant hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since he quitted the aforesaid service. Sworn the 20th Day of December 1776 before John Hale.
