| Examination Text | The Examination of Sarah Duck in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this 26th Day of November 1776. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 18 years of age and upwards, that she never was married, that she was on the 27th Day of October last delivered in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid of a Male bastard child (since christened Jeremiah) yet living and is become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that Jeremiah Matthews (late a Postillion to his Majesty) now a Hosier in Bloomsbury Court Holborn did beget on her body the said Male bastard child, and that he the said Jeremiah Matthews is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
