Examination TextThomas Bell one of the Beadles of the Parish of Saint Martin in the ffields upon his Oath saith that he did apprehend Susannah Lane in the said Parish as a Rogue and Vagabond viz. wandering about and lodging in the open Air & begging &c Contrary to the Statute &c. // Sworn this 4 Day of October 1788 before Wm Hyde // [signed Thoams Bell] // The Examination of the said Susannah Lane upon her Oath saith that the place of her last legal Settlement in the Parish of Saint Andrew Holborn above the Bars in the County of Middlesex by her late Husband Thomas Lane living in & renting a House in Portpool Lane in the Parish aforesaid for many Years & Died in the occupation of the same since which she hath done no Act whereby to gain any subsequent Settlement. // Sworn this 4th Day of October 1788 before Wm Hyde // Susannah Lane her Mark // P
