Examination TextThe Examination of Mary McCarthy removed by an Order of Removal from the parish of St Sepulchre in the City of London, to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields Taken this 20th Day of August 1781. This Examinant on her Oath saith That she is about 33 years of age, That she is the Wife of Jeremiah McCarthy (gone from her) to whom she was married at the Parish Church of st. Andrew Holborn thirteen years ago, That her said husband was (while single and unmarried) a yearly hired servant in the capacity of a Porter to Mr. Hawkes an Ironmonger the corner of Cross Lane in Long Acre in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of four years all under one hiring at the yearly wages of sixteen pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same about the time of his Intermarriage with this Examinant, That her said husband hath not kept house rented a tenement of ten pounds by the year nor paid any Parish taxes since he quitted the said Mr. Hawkes' Service, That she hath three children living by her said husband to wit Mary aged Eighteen years and upwards, Margaret aged Seven years and upwards and Daniel aged about ten months all now with this Examinant, and that she is now pregnant by her said husband. Sworn the 20th Day of August 1781, Before William Hyde.
