Examination Text | Jane Brown aged 53 years in the Workhouse of and in the Parish of Saint Martin in the Fields Passed from the Parish of Saint James in the Liberty of Westminster upon her Oath saith that she is the Widow of John Brown who died about fourteen years ago, that since the Death of her said Husband having no Child living she this Examinant was a yearly hired Servant to Mr. A. Deane a Victualler at the sign of the Coach Makers Arms the corner of Hanover Street in the said Parish of Saint Martin in the Fields for the space of fifteen months all under One hiring at the yearly wages of Eight Guineas diet and Lodging quitted the same about Michaelmas 1774 that she never kept House Rented a Tenement of Ten Pounds by the Year Paid any Parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired Servant in any one Place for Twelve Months together since. // Sworn the 29th Day of January 1776, Before John Hale. |
