Examination TextFrances Allen aged about Twenty Eight years lodging last in St Giles's and that for this fortnight past she hath lain about within the Street of this Parish Saith she never was marryed never was bound an Apprentice never kept House rented ten Pounds by the Year paid any parish Taxes or lived with any one Person the Space of a Twelvemonth as a yearly hired Servant Saith she was born in Drury Lane at the Sign of the George and Punch Bowl within the Parish of St Martin in the ffields which House her Father Richard Allen then kept but knows not what Rent he paid there and from thence removed the Sign of the Oxford Arms ( now the George) against Durham Yard in the Strand in the same Parish and paid above twenty pounds yearly Rent and that he kept the same sometime and then went to Holland and this Examinant with him continued there near Five Years then returned and took the same House again and kept the same several Years quitted the same about ten years agoe and from thence went to Wales and dyed about eight Years ago a Steward to a Gentleman there but never took any other House afterwards Sworn the13th Day of Septemr 1736 Before Jas: Fraser Fransis Allen
