Examination TextThe Examination of Margaret Richardson taken on Oath this 17th day of March Anno Dom 1732 Who on her Oath Saith that she is about Twenty four years of Age that she was married to one John Richardson a haberdasher of Small Wares at old Radnor Church in Radnorshire about seven years agoe who was an apprentice as he told her to one Mr Towers somewhere near Aldgate and that after his time expired was a Journeyman to one Mr ffletcher in Cheapside and after to one Mr Moor in Lawrence Lane but how long he lived in either of those places she never heard that he never kept house Saith that he left her at Epsom in or abt the Month of May or June in the year 1731 last past since which time she hath not seen him neither doth she know if he be living or dead the lasr time of her hearing of or from him being from Nawtwirth in Cheshire and which is upwards of Eleven Months Since And this Examinant further saith that she was on Monday the Nineteenth day of ffebruary last past delivered of a ffemale child in the Workhouse of and in the parish of St Martin in the ffields in the County of Middlesex Since christened Martha and that one James Bradley who keeps a Publick House being the Sign of the Coach and horses in Whitechappel became acquainted with her about the latter end of May or beginning of June last he meeting her as she was going with Mrs harland (with whom she lodged at Hoopers Square in Goodmans fields) towards Islington he being then asquainted with Mrs harland when he proposed to accompany them to Islington and treated them at Maindenhead going thither and that he in a short time after came to her to aforesaid Lodgings at Mrs harlands when they went together to Spring Gardens near Bow or Stepney where he had Carnal Knowledge of her Body in a Room up Stairs on a Bed there and Several times afterwards at her Lodgings aforesaid at one of which times he begot on her Body the said ffemale Child and this Examinant Saith that from the time of begetting the said Child on the Body of this Deponent to the Birth thereof she never saw her said husbands Jurat 17 die Marty Anno Dom 1732 Coram Thomas DeVeil Fra: Burton Margt Richardson
