Examination TextThe Examination of Ann Skinner wife of John Skinner a Taylor in Hadon Street, Swallow Street taken upon oath this 21st Day of August 1765. This Examinant on her oath saith that she very well knows Mary Hurst, aged about 22 years, a lunatic passed from the Parish of St. James within the liberty of Westminster to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields, that the said Mary Hurst never was married nor bound an apprentice to this Examinant's knowledge, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Martin, a Peruke Maker in Suffolk Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of 15 months at the yearly wages of 5 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same about 10 months ago, that she hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since, that the said Mary Hurst was delivered at the Queens Hospital in Oxford Road about six months ago of a female bastard child (since christened Mary) yet living and now in the workhouse aforesaid. Sworn the day and year abovesaid before Peter Planck.
