Examination TextJohn Speight aged 50 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St Giles in the Fields, that he was a yearly hired servant to the Hon Henry Finch Esq in Shepherd Street by Hanover Square in the Parish of St. George Hanover Square for the space of five years at the yearly wages of 8 pounds by the year and seven shillings per week board wages and lodged at the said Mr Finches house, and that he and his master removed into that part of Scotland Yard which is in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields and there served about four months at the yearly wages of 8 pounds as aforesaid, quitted the same about 10 years ago, that he hath not rented an house or tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes, that he hath one child living by his late wife [?] to wit George aged five years and upwards now in the workhouse aforesaid. Sworn the 23rd Day of January 1756 before Benjamin Cox.
