Examination TextAnn Croucher aged 44 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of John Croucher (who died in November last) to whom she was married at the Fleet about 15 years ago, that her said husband was a yearly hired servant to his Grace the Duke of Richmond fpr the space of one and a quarter years at the yearly wages of 6 pounds and seven shillings per week board wages, quitted the same about 22 and a quarter years ago since which time he was an established servant to his late Majesty King George the Second in the capacity of an Helper for the space of 25 years at the yearly wages of 30 pounds and lodging in the Mews, that he her said husband never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since he quitted his aforesaid service, nor hath she this Examinant since the death of her said husband, that she hath two children living by her said husband to wit Dorothy aged 13 years and Mary aged 11 years both now with this Examinant.
