Examination Text | The Examination of Ann Brown singlewoman taken upon oath this [blank] Day of [blank] in the year of our Lord 1738. Who upon her oath saith she is 28 years old, that she never was married and that on Thursday the 17th Day of this instant November she was delivered of a Male bastard child at the house of one Peter Shults in the lodging room of one Johnson in the said house in Moors Yard in the Parish of St Martin in the field within the liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex, which said Male bastard child is since christened Charles and is yet living and become chargeable to the said Parish, and that one Francis Brown now or lately a servant to Captain Dawson in the Kings Bench Walks in the Temple (with whom she became acquainted by their living together a servants to one Mrs Vanwickes at her lodgings at White Fryars London) had carnal knowledge of her body in the month of January last past at the said Mrs Vanwickes lodgings in [blank] in White Fryars aforesaid and several times afterwards at the same place at which or one which times he begot and her body the said Male bastard Child, and that he the said Francis Brown is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
