Examination TextCharles Permaw aged about 40 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields saith he is a Leather Dresser by trade and lived in and rented an house in Hemmings Row in the said Parish at the yearly rent of 13 pounds and paid parish taxes, that he kept it about three quarters of a year and left it about five years ago and never kept house rented 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes afterwards, that he was married to his wife Charlotte (who now lives at Colnbrooke) in the Parish Church of St Anne Westminster about four years ago, hath no children by her but hath two children living by his former wife, Mary, to whom he was married at St Martin's Church 15 years ago and who died about six years ago, that the eldest, Peter, is about 14 years old and is provided for by his this Examinant's brother who lives at Stepney, and the other Charles aged near seven years is now in the said workhouse. Sworn the [blank]. [In the margin:] No such name to be found in the Parish books, it appeared upon inquiry in Hemmings Row that he did there keep a house as mentioned in this examination.
