Martha Davis< no role > aged about 25 Years Lodging
in Carey Street in the Parish of St Clement Danes in
the Liberty of Westminster in the County of Middx
upon Oath saith she never was Married That she lived a
hired Yearly Servant with Godolphin Edwards< no role > Esqr . in the
Parish of St Chads in the Town of Shrewsbury for upwards
of One Year at the Yearly Wages of £3 quitted the same
about 5 Years ago and hath not since rented any House
paid Parliamentary or Parochial Taxes or been a hired
Yearly Servant for one whole year in any one place
And further upon her voluntary Oath says she is
now pregnant with Child or Children which is likely
to be Born a Bastard or Bastards and to become
Chargeable to the said Parish of St. Clement Danes she
being poor and unable to maintain the Same when
Born and that one John Smith< no role > Shopman to Mr. Clark
Woolen draper the Corner of Blackmoor Street in
Drury Lane did beget such Child or Children he having
had carnal Knowledge of her Body in or about the
Month of May 1761 at the house of the said Mr. Clarke
where she was then a Servant and at several times
since at one of which times he got on her Body the Child
or Children with which she is now pregnant.
