to wit Ann Preston< no role > Aged about forty years on her
Oath Says she is the Wife of Christopher Preston< no role > who
has been gone from her upwards of Seventeen years
but whether he is living or dead she cannot set forth
having never seen or heard from him since the time he
left her Says her said Husband before he deserted her He
rented and lived in a House in Ship Yard in the Parish
of Saint Clement Danes for sevl. years at the yearly Rent
of Nineteen pounds as she has been informed and verily
believes hath quitted the said House upwards of Seventeen
years ago since which time he hath never gained any
other Subsequent Settlement to her Knowledge or beleif
And further upon her Voluntary Oath Says she is pregnant
with Child or Children which is or are likely to be born
a Bastard or Bastards and to become Chargable to the
said Parish she being poor and unable to maintain the
same when born And further Says that one John Arnold< no role >
as she believes his name to be and was late a Waiter at
the Horse and Groom in Portugal Street is the Father
thereof he having had Carnal knowledge of her Body in
the Workhouse of the said Parish some time the latter
End of March or the begining of April last past and at sevl.
different times afterwards at one which times he got her
with Child of the Child or Children of which she is now
pregnant & that the said John Arnold< no role > & no other person did
beget the same & that he is the real & true Father thereof
