eighth day of January 1786 at
the Parish of St. George Hanover
Square within the Liberty of Westmr
in the County of Midsex upon
an Inquisition touching the
death of a Male Infant Child
lying dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County

William Mc. Lachlin< no role > at Mr. Williams's No. 4
in Oxford Buildings Oxford Street , Slater
on his Oath saith That on Tuesday Evening
last the Twenty fourth Instant this Dept.
was at a Publick House the Sign of the
Rodney's Head in Chandler Street in the
Parish of St. George Hanover Square , where
he saw an old Woman having have a Child
in her Arns. (being Grand mother to the Child
as Dept. was informed. ) Says that the Nurse
of the Child and her Husband were likewise
there at Supper, Says that the Old Woman
asked the Nurse (who was her Daughter)
to which she Answered that she would
Drink frist, upon which the old Woman
said here take it and keep it, you are Nurse
to it. (meaning the Child which she had then
in her Arns. as Dept. thought, Says that he
heard something fall upon the Table and
immediately saw the Old Woman put the
Child in her Bosom, and directly went away
with the Child, together, with the Nurse and
her Husband, but Dept. did not see the Child
upon the Table
